At Farm & Forest School, learning often begins with the simplest moments. This week, School Director Kailina Mills, EdD, shares how a spontaneous game of rolling pumpkins down a hill turned into a rich, child-led learning experience. What looked like joyful play was also an opportunity for early scientists to explore cause and effect, test ideas, use new vocabulary, strengthen gross motor skills, and collaborate with friends.
Through moments like these, Kailina highlights how nature-based, play-centered learning helps children build the foundational skills they’ll carry into every stage of their education.
