Senior Mountain Biking
Campers will immerse themselves in the exhilarating world of mountain biking, honing their skills while exploring the natural beauty of the surrounding environment. Under the guidance of experienced counselors who are professional bike mechanics from the Portland Gear Hub, campers will have the opportunity to practice fundamental biking techniques and learn essential bike repair skills, including how to fix a flat tire.
Daily rides will take campers through property trails, where they will not only refine their biking abilities but also learn the importance of trail etiquette and safety practices. Additionally, engaging in bike-themed games and activities will add to their learning experience. A highlight of the program includes a round-trip bike excursion to the beach, providing campers with a memorable and rewarding outdoor adventure.
Campers will acquire a solid foundation in bike safety, mastering the ABCs of bike maintenance (air, brakes, chain) and gaining valuable experience in mountain biking across various terrains. Through regular biking activities, campers will also develop balance, coordination, and strength, contributing to both their mental and physical well-being. By participating in bike repair sessions, campers will enhance their mechanical skills, empowering them to address common bike maintenance issues confidently. The mountain biking program at camp offers skill-building, outdoor exploration, and adventure, fostering a lifelong appreciation for cycling.
Please drop bikes & helmets to Camp Ketcha on Monday (or the Friday prior). They unfortunately cannot safely come on the bus.
