Animal Care and Barn Maintenance

At Ketcha Outdoors, our animals play a pivotal role in enhancing our educational programs, offering campers unique and enriching learning experiences. With an annual budget of $25,000 dedicated to animal care and barn maintenance, we emphasize the importance of these interactions in fostering empathy, curiosity, and a deep connection to the natural world. Here’s a glimpse of how we seamlessly integrate our beloved animals into our educational initiatives:

  • Environmental Education: Our animals serve as living ambassadors of the local ecosystem. Through hands-on encounters, campers get to observe and learn about various species, their habitats, behaviors, and roles within the ecosystem. These interactions provide valuable insights into the delicate balance of nature and the importance of conservation.
  • Animal Life Awareness: Our animal residents help campers develop a sense of animal awareness and respect. By learning about the needs and characteristics of different animals, campers gain appreciation for the diversity of life on Earth and the significance of protecting and caring for animals.
  • Responsibility and Care: As part of our educational programs, campers are involved in the care and well-being of our animals. They learn about proper animal husbandry, nutrition, and environmental enrichment, fostering a sense of responsibility and empathy towards living creatures.
  • Team Building: Caring for animals requires cooperation and teamwork. Campers participate in group activities centered around animal care, promoting collaboration and communication among peers.

  • Therapeutic Benefits: Interacting with animals can have therapeutic benefits, reducing stress and anxiety. Some campers may find comfort in spending time with our animal friends, providing a positive and supportive environment for their personal growth.
  • Conservation and Stewardship: Through exposure to our animals, campers are encouraged to become stewards of the environment. They are inspired to take action to protect wildlife and conserve natural resources.

Overall, our animals are integral to fostering a sense of wonder and respect for nature. By incorporating them into our educational programs, we aim to instill a lifelong appreciation for the environment and promote responsible and compassionate attitudes towards all living beings.

Farm & Forest Spots Available

There are still spots available in our Farm & Forest Preschool!

Our 107 acres include forest and fields, a pond, streams, hiking trails and an educational farm. September through May our students are active in the outdoors learning while playing, hiking, gardening, and visiting the animals at the farm.
