We will have special guests for multiple days bringing in different live animals for special presentations. Kids will enjoy nature hikes, educational activities, and fun outdoor games. Campers will learn about Maine wildlife and animals and understand, value, and enjoy the relationship between people and animals. Campers will also assist in caring for our chickens and goats at the barn.
At the Junior Animal Camp, young participants will embark on a journey of exploration and discovery, engaging in a range of hands-on activities to deepen their understanding of the natural world. Campers will get creative by building terrariums and making animal masks, fostering both artistic expression and a connection with nature. They will delve into the fascinating realm of animal tracking, studying footprints to gain valuable identification skills.
The camp also offers a close-up look at pond life, providing an opportunity for campers to explore the diverse ecosystems within it. Practical experiences extend to caring for goats and chickens, promoting the understanding of responsible animal care and their role in maintaining health and wellbeing.
Participants will develop the ability to identify different environmental habitats, recognizing the intricate balance that sustains our ecosystems. A focus on pollination will underscore the vital role played by pollinators in maintaining biodiversity. Additionally, campers will acquire knowledge about native plants and local animals, discerning the differences between native and invasive species. The program aims not only to instill a better understanding and respect for the natural world but also to foster trust, reliance, and connections among peers within the group.
